FAQs

1. What should I wear? Is there a dress code? Friday's attire is festive Indian clothing or American clothing that is bright and colorful - whatever is most comfortable for you. Sunday's attire is cocktail attire.

2. Where is a good place to shop for Indian clothing for Friday's festivities? I personally have shopped both locally and online. If you're located in San Francisco/the Bay Area, I love this rental company! If you're in Austin, try out Marigold off of South Lamar so you can try things on in-person! If you'd rather shop online, I've personally shopped with UTSAV and had good experiences: I recommend ordering well in advance (think 2 months to be safe) since it's shipped from India. Also: for garments that require your specific measurements - go big and then get it altered to fit, since sometimes the sizing can be a little off.

3. What are the different parts of Indian attire?
For women, I recommend a salwar suit (also called anarkhali, kurta, pyjama, Punjabi; this is a long tunic-like top with pants. the styles and materials vary. by far the most comfy option), a lehenga (also called ghagra choli or chaniya choli - a short top/blouse, a long skirt and a scarf that wraps around you), or a sari (5-9 meters of fabric draped around a petticoat and blouse - requires some knowledge of wrapping yourself; more restricting movement-wise).

Men’s attire is normally a long-sleeved tunic and pants, often called kurta or sherwani. Traditionally these are accompanied by loose fitting pants, but Nikhil prefers to wear his with slacks out of comfort.

Most of these websites are going to have categories for "weddings" or "party wear" - please know whatever you wear, we appreciate you just as you are, so please know anything you feel comfortable in is what we love best!

4. Do you have a hotel block for guests? Yes! We have room blocks at the Westin Domain (512-832-4197) for $189/night (available Thursday-Sunday night) and Lone Star Court at The Domain (512-814-2625) for $149/night (available Friday-Sunday nights).

TO BOOK: Please call or go online to reserve your room blocks as soon as possible - please reference the "Vaughn-Deshpande Room Block" or "Paige Vaughn and Nikhil Deshpande Room Block" when booking to take advantage of the rates. Keep in mind, Austin City Limits Festival is in town this specific weekend, so accommodation prices elsewhere might be higher than these rates.

OPTION 1: [WESTIN ROOM BLOCK - $189/night]

OPTION 2: [LONE STAR COURT ROOM BLOCK - $149/night]

5. Where should guests park? Is parking free? There is free street parking all around One Eleven East since it's located in downtown Hutto (a small town outside of Austin). Anywhere that is public parking is free for you to use!

6. What will the weather be like this time of year? Texas is a wild card: it could be in the high 70s or the low 90s (we're hoping it's pleasant), but we don't really get a "fall" in Texas, so please pack accordingly. Maybe even a bathing suit for your hotel ;)

7. Will the ceremony and reception be indoors? HECK YES. All festivities, aside from the cocktail hour on Sunday, will be inside with the air conditioning at One Eleven East.

8. What happens after the ceremony? We will be taking photos with immediate family and wedding party members, so guests will get to enjoy cocktail hour. :)

9. Does your wedding have a theme? Our inspiration is "modern art museum" meets "retro late 1960s." Lots of color and lots of personal touches we're super excited about!

10. What should I do if I can’t make it? As much as we want you there, if you can't make it, please let us know ASAP so we can modify our head count and alert the caterers.

11. Can I bring a date? We have a strict guest list to stay on budget and to keep things as intimate as possible. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate the specific names listed on your invitation and will only have table settings for these specific people.

12. Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media? Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures on to their social media channels, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag #deshvaughnday (haha, see what we did there?!) so we can keep track of all of your pictures!”

13. I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you? You can email Paige at paigevaughn15@gmail.com for any simple questions. Any logistical questions should be directed to our wedding planner extraordinaire Ashley at ashley@muchadoaustin.com.
